Marymound and Prairie Tides are proud to announce the Sod Turning and Land Dedication Ceremony for the Prairie Tides Live-In Healing Home, taking place on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM on the Marymound Campus, 442 Scotia Street, Winnipeg.
This special event marks a significant milestone in the creation of a safe, healing space for youth who have experienced complex trauma and adversity. Prairie Tides Live-In Healing Home will provide a therapeutic, culturally informed, and relationship-based environment where young people can heal, grow, and build brighter futures. The event will honour the land and its history while celebrating the new beginnings that this home represents. We invite you to join us as we break ground, reflect on the journey ahead, and recognize the importance of this project for all Manitoba youth. A feast will follow.
Addressing a Critical Gap in Manitoba
Prairie Tides Community Healing aims to address the complex needs experienced by some of Manitoba’s youth. The Live-In Healing Home will focus on youth whose functioning is impacted by one or more of the following:
-High-risk behaviours
-Mental health challenges
-Substance use/addictions
-Complex trauma
-Neurodevelopmental challenges
Currently, many Manitoba youth are sent out of province to receive live-in healing services and treatment. By providing this essential service within Manitoba, Prairie Tides will ensure that families can be involved in their youth’s journey and can maintain stronger connections during this critical time. This approach also offers a more cost-effective solution for the province, reducing the financial and emotional burden of sending youth away for care.
About Prairie Tides Community Healing Services
Prairie Tides Community Healing Services is a transformative initiative dedicated to addressing the unmet mental health and substance use healing needs of children, youth, and families in Manitoba. Rooted in a holistic, culturally informed approach, Prairie Tides provides a safe and supportive environment where youth can heal, grow, and thrive.
The purpose-built facility is designed with spaces that promote healing and education, embracing a Two-Eyed Seeing approach that integrates Indigenous wisdom with Western therapeutic practices. Prairie Tides places a strong emphasis on cultural programming, land-based healing, and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™ (NMT)—a developmentally appropriate therapeutic planning tool that supports youth on their journey to resilience and well-being.
Beyond the Live-In Healing Home, Prairie Tides will also offer Community Healing Services, providing culturally grounded, trauma-informed counselling and assessment services. Through a wraparound approach that prioritizes family and community engagement, youth will receive individualized healing plans, ensuring a path toward lasting strength and connection.
We are proud to be only the second organization in Canada to receive site certification in Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™ (NMT), alongside another site in Calgary. This certification reflects our deep commitment to providing evidence-based, developmentally informed care that fosters healing and resilience.
While significant progress has been made, funding challenges remain. The project has faced financial hurdles due to shifts in government support and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite raising approximately $2.5 million, Marymound still requires additional funding to complete Prairie Tides Healing Services and ensure that this vital Live-In Healing Home becomes a reality. Now is the time to act. With your support, we can bridge this gap and provide Manitoba’s youth with the healing, care, and hope they urgently need. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
