Crisis Stabilization

The Crisis Stabilization Unit is part of the Youth Crisis Stabilization System (YCSS) in Manitoba. We are a community-based crisis intervention service for youth ages 9-17 and their families, offering a wide range of supports.

Admission to the Crisis Stabilization Unit is through the youth Mobile Crisis Team. The Mobile Crisis Team supports youth and families with safety and mental health concerns, parent/child conflict and behaviour management wherever crisis is occurring.

Examples of situations we respond to are:

  • Parent/Child Conflict
  • Difficulties with Coping
  • Thoughts of Suicide
  • Mental Health Concerns
  • Traumatic Events

The CSU’s offer a safe space for youth ages 9-17 who are feeling overwhelmed, stressed or unable to cope. Our team of skilled Youth Care Practioners prioritize your child’s safety through safety planning, coping skills and knowledge of community resources.

Our units are designed with safety in mind. Youth have their own bedrooms, shared washrooms and a shared common area.

A stay at the Crisis Stabilization Unit is on average 1-3 days. Our Clinical Follow-Up Facilitators will support the discharge process and make any necessary referrals to help with future planning (ie. Brief Treatment Therapy, Home-Based Crisis Intervention, Youth Education Services).

Crisis Stabilization Unit intake is available 24/7
