Construction of our new healing home, now officially named Prairie Tides Community Healing, has begun.
This journey began in 2014 at the request of the provincial government, responding to the Manitoba Children’s Advocate report, which highlighted significant gaps in mental health and addiction supports for youth. Sadly, the Manitoba Advocate’s most recent special report underscores that little progress has been made in addressing these issues. This new facility arrives at a critical time, as young people continue to face profound challenges with limited resources available.
Construction officially commenced on December 15, 2024, on Marymound’s main campus at 442 Scotia Street. This purpose-built facility represents a significant step forward, designed to better meet the needs of Manitoba’s most vulnerable youth. It also reinforces Marymound’s legacy of service, which began in 1911, and continues to evolve to address today’s unprecedented societal challenges.
Why Prairie Tides?
The name Prairie Tides Healing Services reflects the natural beauty and resilience of the Manitoba landscape, as well as the journey of healing and transformation. It embodies the interconnectedness of land, water, and people, symbolizing the strength and flow of life that carries us toward healing.
Prairie Tides Healing Services will embody leading-edge approaches to healing and treatment, ensuring that young people receive the care and support they need. This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to helping Manitoba’s youth overcome adversity and thrive.
We are also excited to announce that we will hold an official sod-turning and land commitment ceremony this spring. The exact date is yet to be determined, but we look forward to celebrating this milestone with you and the entire community.
This project is truly a collective effort, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity and dedication. Your support has made this vision a reality, and together, we are creating a brighter future for Manitoba’s youth.
Marymound is privileged to operate its Campus on Treaty One land. Our amenities cater to the diverse needs of our youth and staff, offering a wide range of resources and facilities.
Marymound, an organization deeply rooted in providing care and support to youth and families, is embarking on an ambitious project to establish a Live-In Healing Home on our Scotia Street campus. This initiative is designed to address the multifaceted needs of Manitoba’s youth facing challenges such as high-risk behaviors, mental health issues, substance use/addictions, complex trauma, and neurodevelopmental challenges.
